— Australian Rangelands & Pastoralists Coin
This coin’s reverse features a detailed design representing Australian Rangelands and Pastoralism, created by Mint Coin Designer Adam Ball. The outer box showcases original artwork by Mint Coin Designer Elyssa Waterford, drawn from her striking linocut print.
The coin beautifully depicts an Australian rangeland scene, reflecting the theme of the United Nations’ designation of 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP).
Rangelands play many vital roles both in Australia and globally. They support biodiversity across a wide range of ecosystems and the native species that inhabit them. Their plant cover helps protect soils, reduce erosion, and absorb carbon. Rangelands also contribute significantly to the economy through agriculture, mining and tourism.
IYRP celebrates not only the landscapes themselves but also the people who live and work on them.
In Australia, this includes many communities across the country, among them a significant number of First Nations people. Those who manage the millions of livestock grazing on rangelands—our pastoralists—combine modern practices and technological innovation with traditional knowledge developed over generations.
Together, these approaches strengthen land management, sustainability and stewardship
