This 2026 coloured 20 cent coin commemorates the establishment of Australian women’s auxiliary services in 1941 during the Second World War.
The design highlights several of the important roles carried out by women who served in these auxiliary services. Near the centre of the coin, three lines of Morse code radiate from a telegraph key, spelling out the acronyms of the three women’s services.
The coloured detail is inspired by the uniform colours of the Women’s Auxiliary Australian Air Force, which was the first and largest of these wartime women’s services.
